College Life?

a short video summarizing some of the most important characteristics of students today - how they learn, what they need to learn, their goals, hopes, dreams, what their lives will be like, and what kinds of changes they will experience in their lifetime. Created by Michael Wesch in collaboration with 200 students at Kansas State University.

I think that the clip had a lot of relevant facts. I like the appeal of how the video was made. It made you pay attention more because they were moving. When I saw the hours college students spent in a day doing everything there wasn't enough time in one day. As a college student I do always feel like there is never enough time in the day.

I think alot of the things shown in this video was true. About how the students spend their time and how much of the studies we do is actually relevant to our future. I liked how the video started, the writings along with the music got your attention. I also liked how the video flowed, it was not just random information, but information that are ought to be mentioned.

To my opinions, I believe that college life is more complicated then it seems. The short clip show alot of true things college students go through such as spend time on their computers during lectures instead of paying attention to the teacher to spending so much on text books that they do not really open.

I think this video definetely touched on a lot of the concerns we as college students have and we all can relate to in someway or another especially the breakdown of the hours in a day that equaled up to 26.5 hours a day. Being someone who works almost full time and attends school full time and is expected to study, do homework, and run errands in between and still have time to myself i could sympathize with the video greatly.

I think that the truth in that video could not be any more true. There is 24 hours in a day yet we are occupied with so many things in our life that it occupies one whole day plus some. I think that everything that was shown in that video is a lot to bear with as a college student. But we will just have to cope with it just like every other person in the world. This is just college so imagine what the real world is like.
PS: I really enjoyed that video it was great!!!!!

I think that the video is a relevant representation of MOST college students' life. Interesting video with lots of random facts.

I think that this video was very helpful to myself and maybe others and how they look at a college student's life. This video really did just keep my attention just because of how they were holding up writings of what they do in twenty four hours and some of the facial expressions they were making. If a professor or someone would have been talking threw out this hold video then I dont think I would have been able to relate. Just having to relate to the students gain alot of entrance from me just because I can relate to half of the things most of them do, like studying, talking on a cell phone for half of the day, and sometimes not paying attention in class. Interesting!

This video is actually funny to me! Because I see students on face book, texting on the cell phones, sleeping, playing solitaire on the laptop , even studying for other classes while class everyday. In addition, I often wonder do the professors know what the students are actually spending their time doing while they have their backs turned, while writing on the boarding trying to lecture on the subject. I feel sorry for the professors because they spend time into putting together their lecture and then students could care less about it. It is all true…

I think this video makes several poitns and one of the more outstanding ones being that in a round about way we all end up paying for our degree. We pay for books we never use, and we get information thats on a test and forget it after the tests.

I felt that this video was very accurate in the way that the information was presented. It amazed me how much this video was relatable, visually pleasing, and actually told from the point of view of actual college students. It revealed the truth as to how many college students spend their time, something that is not often discussed. Overall, I thought the video was great and now it has me looking forward to the "continuation" of the video.

A lot of the things that were pointed out in this video were so true. If I could not relate them to my life, I definitely knew people that I could. Even though I basically already knew all of these things, there was one sign that really made me think. It was the one that said something like,"after college, I would have a job that has never existed before." It just blew my mind, because it's the one thing that I have never heard any of us college students talk about. Then I realized that a lot of the jobs today did not exist before. I think we should discuss that one in class.

This video did a lot to imply that college students weren't spending their time at college studying. It seems like the implication was that somehow the University was responsible for their failings. Maybe that's not the point, but just because a student has three hours of class a day, and three hours of internet time, doesn't really explain why that's the schools fault. I noticed that they didn't hold up any signs that talked about their homework. One sign said that they only read eight books that year, and another said that they spend hundreds of dollars on textbooks they don't even read, but it seems to me that that is a result of the student shirking their responsibility rather than the school. A school isn't there to make a student read. College is a choice, and a teacher is there to help a student learn, so if a teacher assigns readings and the student doesn't read, that's the students problem, not the professors. I find myself doing more homework each day than I spend in class. Granted, I still spend much less time on school than I would a full time job, but three hours a day seems like their either not doing any homework, or they're conveniently omitting it. Also, things like cell phones and facebook are personal choices. They used to not exist, and people managed to exist. It's possible to get by without them still. Students ultimately have the choice to be in school or not. Professors can't do much more than offer the information and test students on whether or not they have learned. Blame shouldn't be placed on the school for not having kids who want to student, but rather the fault lies with those students who choose not to learn.

This clip shows a interesting viewpoint into the college students life. It shows the side that most people often forget about when it comes to college. The use of common facts that college students deal with everyday keeps the readers attention and quickly leaves the viewer with a sense of interest.

Wow. This video was amazingly accurate in the information that it presented and I love the way that it was shown. I can relate to almost every one of the signs that the students held up and it sort of made me ashamed of how I spend my time everyday. The video was very interesting.

The video was very accurate and relative to my life as a college student. It makes me wonder what college life was like fifty years ago. What distractions did they have?

I think this clip shows how much it actually takes to be a college studnent. It makes you think of just why you are in college. You begin to think about how you have going on, even though you don't exactly tally what all you do. You see exactly how much time is wasted on this and how much money is wasted on that, then you think of it in terms of the world. How the price of a student's laptop is someone's yearly salary is boggling. It makes me think we don't take why we are here as seriously as we should.

This video clip portrayed a strong argument for students and for faculty alike. It even represented the way college is portrayed for non-students or those not involved in the usual college life. Taking a moment to watch this video and think about will be the first steps of "redemption" you could say, or towards building a college that doesn't have finances at the forefront of its endeavors, and more the education of its students. A college where one buys a book as a tool, not as a financial deposit for the college.
